Polish Picks for Summer 2018

I am so late getting this post up! I am so glad that summer is finally upon us. It has been so hot here recently, but that’s okay because it will only be a few months before we’re freezing our butts off once again.

Today I have five mainstream and five indie polishes to share with you for my picks for summer.

China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy

CHINA GLAZE - FLIP FLOP FANTASY OG (2)

I think Flip Flop Fantasy has appeared on every summer picks list I’ve ever made, and with good reason. This colour just screams SUMMER! It is my favourite polish to wear on my toes during the summer (in fact it is on my toes right now!). The formula on this polish is not the greatest (it’s pretty crappy to be honest), but in three coats this polish is gorgeous. It does dry matte, but a glossy top coat takes care of that.

China Glaze – Strawberry Fields

CHINA GLAZE - STRAWBERRY FIELDS

Another summer favourite from China Glaze is Strawberry Fields, this polish has a beautiful gold glass fleck in it that just glows on the nail. This polish is opaque in two coats.

China Glaze – BFF

CHINA GLAZE - BFF

This is from the new OMG! Flashback Collection. I was excited to hear that this collection was coming back, and I will be reviewing the whole collection at some point. This one jumped out at me from the collection. Not only because of its beautiful formula, but because it is a gorgeous purple for summer. I could probably have gotten away with one coat of this, but the ridges in my nails had different ideas.

Essie – Blue-tiful Horizon

ESSIE - BLUE-TIFUL HORIZON

This is from the most recent Essie spring collection. I have been avoiding Essie polishes over the past couple of years because I have been burned by a number of bad formulas. This one may just have restored my faith, coupled with the fact that the North American market will finally be getting thicker brushes. This polish has a gorgeous copper shimmer it, and was fully opaque in two coats.

Sally Hansen – Pacific Blue

SALLY HANSEN - PACIFIC BLUE

This is another long time favourite of mine. There is just something about this blue that gets me every time. Unfortunately this polish was reformulated a number of years ago and the new polish is nothing like the original. I have been told that KL Polish Porter Miami and Moonshine Mani In the Pacific are close dupes of this polish if you can’t get your hands on the original. This beautiful polish is fully opaque in one easy coat.

Sista Chic Lacquer – Scorch

This beautiful pink cream is from the new Sista Chic Lacquer summer collection. The formula on this polish was like butter and applied so easily. This is the perfect bubblegum pink shade for the summer. Shown here in two coats.

Tonic – Tonicspiracy

TONIC - TONICSPIRACY

Another gorgeous summer pink, this polish from Tonic has a beautiful gold shimmer running through it. This polish has an amazing formula and was easily opaque in two coats.

KB Shimmer – Now and Zen

KB SHIMMER - NOW AND ZEN

KB Shimmer has long been one of my favourite brands. When I started on my Indie adventure, KB Shimmer was the brand that I always had my eye on. This polish is from their newest summer collection and has a beautiful turquoise shimmer in it. That along with the holographic sparkle make this polish glow off the nail. Shown here in two coats.

Rogue Lacquer – Steam Punk Fantasy

ROGUE - STEAM PUNK FANTASY

I have had my eye on this polish ever since Rogue Lacquer launched earlier this year. I was excited to learn that I would be able to pick this up at Indie Expo, and the Rogue Lacquer table was one of the first tables I shopped at during the event. This polish is such a girly polish. It feels elegant and dainty on your nails, and it also has a beautiful formula. Shown here in two easy coats.

Colors by Llarowe – Bananas and Krispy Kremes are Better Than HBO

CBL - BANANAS AND KRISPY KREMES ARE BETTER THAN HBO

This is another purchase from Indie Expo and was the first polish from my haul that I wore after the event. It wasn’t even on my shopping list, but when I spotted it at the event, I had to buy it. It’s another polish that just screams SUMMER! This is a beautiful lime green linear holographic and has a perfect formula. I don’t think I have ever been disappointed by a Colors by Llarowe formula, this polish just sort of glided on the nail. Shown here in two easy coats.

I also posted a video on my YouTube Channel with my summer picks, head over there to check it out!
